Seven helpful tips

Hello!

These are some tips that I’ve used and continue to use and have found to have worked for me. I cannot guarantee that you will experience the exact same results.

1. Baking soda for heartburn (aka acid reflux)

I mix 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda in a glass of water and sip on it slowly. I have found that it is relatively slow in its effect (even though I haven’t used anything else. haha), but it’s natural and I like that. The alkaline nature of the baking soda combats the acid in your gut/stomach which then provides relief.

2. Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV) for menstrual cramps

I don’t always have menstrual cramps, but when I do, ACV comes through for me. I find that this works best when taken the day my period starts, but can still work even a day or two after my period has started. It can also work when taken a day before the start of the period (if you keep track). I take either a teaspoon or a tablespoon and mix it with hot or warm water then just drink it quickly because the smell makes me nauseous (This may be the period talking). I use Bragg ACV.

3. Timing myself

Although I don’t use this as much anymore, but to keep track of time in the bathroom, I use songs. Example: I have a 5 minute song so when I hear the ending part of the song, I know I should be rounding up my face washing process because I budgeted 5 mins for that process. I hope that was clear enough. An alternative to songs can be alarms.

4. No device

On the flip side, I try not to take my phone to the bathroom as I’m going to use the toilet. This is to help me save time because I found that I usually spend thirty minutes on a three minute job just scrolling on my phone. Thinking about it, it actually is not ideal. Sitting in that stench for an extended period of time.

5. Laying fitted sheets

I learnt this a while ago and it may not apply to every single brand, but every sheet I remember using had had the tag at the bottom left so that has saved me some time when laying my bed.

6. Labelling cords

This is a simple one and many may already know this, but when I purchase a new device, I label the cords that come with it right away with some tape and marker. Sometimes I have duplicates and store the new cord for future use or travel. These labels help me to identify which is the original cord in the event that I’m donating or selling the item.

7. Tell people you love them

I had to put this here because love is a central theme on this blog. As important as it is, many people forget or refuse to do this. Love may be implied by actions, but there is a benefit to hearing it. This reinforces my feelings because when I say it, it echoes in my ears as well. I’m sure the recipient will always appreciate it. This is not an alternative to actually loving people.

Which of these tips have you heard of and/or used? Which other tips do you know about?

  1. As simple as “telling people you love them” sounds, It’s not something that I do quite often even though I genuinely love people. Thanks for reinforcing my resolve to keep telling people I LOVE THEM and really meaning it.
