Have you been praying, but feel like you’re not seeing results? I’m going to share some keys to seeing wonderful results when you pray. Prayer is not just a routine, it is a powerful tool we have to communicate with God and it is capable of transforming our lives. Why am I so confident that these keys will work? Because they are Scripture-backed. By understanding and applying these principles, you open the door to experiencing divine intervention and guidance in ways you may have never imagined.
Now it came to pass, as He was praying in a certain place,
Luke 11:1 (NKJV)
when He ceased,
that one of His disciples said to Him,
“Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples”
In Luke 11, one of Jesus’ disciples asked Him to teach them to pray. This request came after He had finished a prayer session. Other portions of Scripture reveal that praying was a habit of Jesus, and the disciples likely recognized that His prayer life was instrumental to the success He experienced in ministry. I believe because they desired similar results in their own lives, they realized that they needed to learn how to pray.
At that time Jesus prayed this prayer:
Matthew 11:25-26 (NLT)
O Father, Lord of heaven and earth,
thank you for hiding these things from those
who think themselves wise and clever,
and for revealing them to the childlike.
Yes, Father, it pleased you to do it this way!
Jesus, being gracious, provided a template known today as The Lord’s Prayer. After giving them this template, He assured them that their prayers would be answered. Why was He so confident? If you examine the template He provided, you’ll notice that the prayer is fundamentally centered on God’s will. Digging deeper into other prayers Jesus offered in Scripture that we are privileged to read about, you’ll observe the same consistent pattern. He consistently sought the will of the Father, which led to all His prayers being answered. Therefore, when He claimed that you’d achieve a 100% success rate by praying in this manner, He was confident because it was a tried and tested approach. And no, it’s not merely anecdotal; the disciples attempted it and experienced the same results. Now, if you’re wondering, “How can I discern God’s will to pray accordingly?” You must study Scripture. The will of God is clearly evident there. I have a post that discusses Bible study and prayer that may help you in this matter.
And so I tell you,
Luke 11:9-10 (NLT)
Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for.
Keep on seeking, and you will find.
Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you.
For everyone who asks, receives.
Everyone who seeks, finds.
And to everyone who knocks, the door will be opened.
Another key that Jesus gave us is to be persistent in prayer. I often find myself praying about something once or twice and then letting go, convincing myself that if God wants to answer, He will, and that I shouldn’t keep bothering Him. However, that’s far from the truth! God desires for me to be persistent in prayer. I believe that this persistence extends beyond simply asking for the same thing repeatedly; it’s about coming to Him daily. Luke 11:3 says, “Give us this day our daily bread”. My understanding of daily bread is that it is meant for single-use, signifying that tomorrow I need to ask for a freshly baked one. Therefore, just because I’ve received something, it doesn’t mean I should stop approaching God. It seems that He wants us to continue returning to Him. Yes, God is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, but He also desires a relationship with us, which is why He wants us to keep coming back.
I am praying not only for these disciples
John 17:20-21 (NLT)
but also for all who will ever believe in me through their message.
I pray that they will all be one,
just as you and I are one—as you are in me, Father, and I am in you.
And may they be in us so that the world will believe you sent me
In summary, persistently pray the will of the Father with the help of the Holy Spirit as Jesus taught us and I guarantee that you will see wonderful results. This is God’s promise to you (not mine).
The insistent prayer of a righteous person
James 5:16 (WEB)
is powerfully effective.
